 The Sazerac was crowned the official cocktail of New Orleans in 2008. Whilst the Sazerac was originally created with french brandy as its base, before bartenders changed over to Rye, mainly due to it's new arrival. Whilst it is a tasty thing, Liquor.com decided to mix the Cognac with the Rye as its house recipe.
The Cognac and Rye work well together, with a hint of liquorice from the Absinthe flavours.

Ingredients
- 1 Sugar cube
- 1/2Â tsp Cold water
- 3Â dashes Peychaud's bitters
- 2Â dashes Angostura bitters
- Absinthe to rinse
- 40ml Bulleit Rye Whiskey
- 40ml Hennessy Cognac
- Garnish: Lemon Peel
How to make a Sazerac Cocktail
Rinse a chilled rocks glass with absinthe, discarding any excess, and set aside.
In a mixing glass, muddle the sugar cube, water and both bitters.
Add the rye, fill with ice, and stir until well-chilled.
Strain into the prepared glass.
Twist a slice of lemon peel over the surface to extract the oils and then discard.
