Vegan sparkling wines are typically made in the same way as regular sparkling wines, with the exception that no animal-derived products are used in their production. Veganism is a lifestyle choice that abstains from the use of all animal products, including dairy and eggs. There are a variety of vegan sparkling wines available on the market, made in both the traditional Champagne method and Charmat method. Vegan sparkling wines can be made from any type of grape, but most commonly use white grapes such as Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier. Some popular brands of vegan sparkling wine include Vegan Cuvee, Frog's Leap Sparkling Wine, and Jansz Tasmania Premium Cuvee. Vegan Cuvee is an Australian sparkling wine that is made using the Charmat method. The company was founded by two friends, Jody and David, who were looking for a high-quality vegan sparkling wine to serve at their wedding. Vegan Cuvee is made from 100% Chardonnay grapes and is brut style. Frog's Leap Sparkling Wine is an American sparkling wine that is made in the traditional Champagne method. The wine is made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes and is extra brut style. Jansz Tasmania Premium Cuvee is an Australian sparkling wine that is made in the traditional Champagne method. The wine is made from a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier grapes and is brut style. Sparkling wine has a long history, with the first recorded production of sparkling wine happening in 1531. Sparkling wine was originally produced as a way to make red wine last longer, as the bubbles helped to preserve the wine. The first recorded mention of Champagne was in 1676, when Dom Perignon wrote about the method of making sparkling wine that is now known as the Champagne method. Did you know that all wines are vegan? Wine is made from grapes, which are a plant-based product. The only exception to this rule is if animal-derived products are used in the fining process, which is a step that is used to remove impurities from the wine. Vegan-friendly wines will typically be labelled as such on the bottle.
