The Balvenie The Edge of Burnhead Wood 19 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky The Balvenie has released a series of whiskeys that tell the tale and craftsmanship of this loved distillery, called the Balvenie Stories. The new edition is The Edge of Burnhead Wood, which tells of the 'The Heather Trials' behind the team. It is the first term that is made absolutely from ingredients grown in the Dufftown estate of Balvenie, a real terroir of Speyside.

In 2000, Dave Stewart, the manager of the estate, went up early on a walk to the edge of Burnhead Wood (not to be confused with David C. Stewart or David A. Stewart of the Eurythmics). He went back to the maltings with a handful of young heathers, where they were added to the kiln. This gives the barley and the final whiskey a gentle aroma and delicate fruitiness. The outcome is classical Balvenie with a touch of matured fig, geranium, heather honey, live blossom woodlands, petrichor, baklava dates, orange oils, and spices. For every whiskey in the range of The Balvenie Story, the distillery developed an audio-book conversing with the people who allowed it and David Stewart and Kelsey McKechnie, Global Ambassador Gemma Paterson, and the distillery's workers on this whiskey.
