De Kuyper Apricot Brandy is a Dutch fruit brandy made with apricots. The company was founded in 1695 by Jan de Kuyper, and the brandy has been produced in Schiedam, Netherlands since 1752.
The De Kuyper family were originally from Germany, and they had been involved in the production of jenever (a type of Dutch gin) since the early 1600s. In 1695, Jan de Kuyper set up his own company in Schiedam to produce jenever and other spirits. His son Jacobus took over the business in 1752, and it was during his time that the company began producing fruit brandies.
The region of Schiedam is known for its high-quality apricots, and this is thought to be a key factor in the quality of De Kuyper's apricot brandy. The brandy has a strong fruity flavor with hints of vanilla and honey, and it is well-known among spirit connoisseurs for its smooth, rich taste.
