The whisky is matured for 17 years in two types of cask, firstly in traditional oak whisky casks and then for a further period of time in Spanish Oloroso sherry casks. This double maturation gives The Balvenie Double Wood 17 Year Old its distinctive rich flavour with notes of sweet vanilla, oak and spice.
The Balvenie distillery was founded in 1892 by William Grant, and today it is still owned and operated by the Grant family. The Balvenie Double Wood 17 Year Old is a testament to the skill and craftsmanship of The Balvenie's team of whisky makers, led by David Stewart MBE.
