When it comes to history, English Harbour Rum has an intriguing past. In 1784, Admiral Horatio Nelson arrived in Antigua and set up base at Fort George. His men were given a daily ration of rum, which they affectionately nicknamed "Nelson's Blood". Years later, during the Second World War, the British Royal Navy used Antigua as a base, and rum was once again rationed to the troops.
The rum is made using a blend of pot and column still rums that are aged for a minimum of ten years in American white oak bourbon barrels. This gives the rum its beautiful golden color and rich flavor profile. On the nose, you'll find hints of vanilla, caramel, and oak, followed by a smooth and slightly sweet taste on the palate. The finish is long and warming, with just a hint of spice.
