De Kuyper Royal Distillers was founded by Johannes de Kuijper in 1695. He began his career as a cloth merchant, but soon switched to distilling spirits. He started out by making jenever, a Dutch gin. In 1752, his son Jacob took over the company and began to experiment with different flavors of spirits. He is credited with creating the first fruit-flavored liqueurs, including De Kuyper Apple Schnapps.
Schiedam is a city in the province of South Holland. It is located near Rotterdam and has a long history of distilling spirits. In the 18th century, Schiedam was home to over 400 distilleries! Today, there are only a handful of distilleries left in the city, but it is still known for its high-quality spirits.
