Makers Mark

Makers Mark

Makers Mark Bourbon Whiskey is a brand of American Bourbon whiskey produced in Loretto, Kentucky, by Beam Suntory. It is bottled at 90 proof and sold in distinctively squarish bottles which are sealed with red wax. Makers Mark bourbon whiskey uses wheat instead of rye as the "flavoring grain" in its mash bill, resulting in a softer flavor.

Makers Mark is aged for six years in new oak barrels; Makers 46 is aged for nine months longer in barrels with seared French oak staves inserted into them.

The distillery offers tours and operates a visitors' center with an attached gift shop. Makers Mark was designated a National Historic Landmark on December 16, 1980. Makers Mark is available in the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia and Australia. Makers Mark bourbon whiskey has a smooth taste with flavors of vanilla and caramel. Makers Mark is best enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or with a splash of water.

Makers Mark can also be used in cocktails. Some popular Makers Mark cocktails include the Mint Julep, Old Fashioned, and Manhattan.

-Mint Julep: Combine Makers Mark Bourbon Whiskey, mint leaves, sugar syrup and water in a glass filled with ice cubes. Stir well and garnish with a sprig of mint.

-Old Fashioned: Combine Makers Mark Bourbon Whiskey, sugar syrup, Angostura bitters and water in a glass filled with ice cubes. Stir well and garnish with an orange slice.
