Old Forester was created by George Garvin Brown, who founded the Brown-Forman Corporation in 1870. Old Forester was originally produced for medicinal purposes and was marketed as a "whiskey for medicine." Old Forester was first sold in 1874 and became the first bourbon to be sold in sealed bottles.
In 1897, Old Forester was designated as the "official whiskey of Kentucky" and remains one of the few bourbons that has been continuously available throughout its long history. Today, Old Forester is produced at the Brown-Forman distillery in Louisville, Kentucky. With its rich and complex flavor profile, Old Forester is a true classic in the world of bourbon whiskey.
