Herno Old Tom Gin is produced in the Hern¶ distillery in the Swedish village of Dala-Floda. It is made with a base of pure wheat spirit and distilled using a Carterhead still. The botanicals used include juniper, coriander, orange peel, lemon peel, and cardamom.
The Hern¶ distillery was founded in 2010 by Jonny and Andreas Br¶nnell. Jonny had previous experience working at the Bruichladdich distillery on Islay, while Andreas had worked as a chef. Their aim was to create a world-class gin using traditional methods and locally sourced ingredients.
The name 'Old Tom' comes from the style of gin that was popular in England in the 18th century. It is a sweetened gin, and the Hern¶ Old Tom has a subtle sweetness thanks to the addition of Swedish wildflower honey.
The gin has a complex flavor with notes of citrus, juniper, and spice. It is perfect for enjoy neat, or in a classic cocktail such as a Martini or Gin & Tonic.
