St George Bruto Americano is a dry, red wine with complex aromas and flavors. The nose presents notes of dark fruits, herbs, and spices, while the palate is structured and full-bodied with firm tannins. This wine pairs well with grilled meats and hearty pasta dishes.
Bruto Americano is St. George's flagship wine, and it is produced from a blend of old-vine Zinfandel, Carignane, Alicante Bouschet, and Petite Sirah. The grapes are grown in St. George's Estate vineyards in Lodi, California. These vineyards are sustainably farmed and the grapes are hand-harvested. After fermentation, the wine is aged for 18 months in French oak barrels.
St. George Winery was founded in St. Louis, Missouri in 1970 by John and Vera McKay. The winery moved to California's Napa Valley in 1972. St. George is now owned by the Dierberg family and is run by winemaker Joel Aiken. The focus at St. George is on producing high-quality, small-lot wines from classic grape varieties.
