National Rum Day 2018 - Australia

National Rum Day is usually celebrated annually on August 16. Rum is a distilled clear alcoholic beverage which is made directly from sugar cane juice.  After the fermentation and distillation process, most Rum is aged in wooden oak barrels.

Did you know ? The Sugar Act of 1764, which was a tax on sugar, molasses and Rum by the British on the American colonies, helped start the unrest that finally became the American Revolution.

Check out our Cocktail Recipes where you will find your favourite Rum Cocktails to toast National Rum Day, or to simply enjoy on a hot summer day.

Followed by the vodka and all the whiskeys combined, rum is the third most popular spirit in the US. It paints images of bright coloured beaches, and colourful Cocktails in the Caribbean.
