A Brief History of Whisky

Whisky is a popular liquor made from fermented grain mash. It's believed to have originated in the Scottish Highlands in the 15th century, and it has since become popular all over the world. Here's a brief history of whisky and the different types of whisky you can find today.

The first written record of whisky comes from 1494, when Scottish friar John Cor was granted a license to distill whisky. It's believed that whisky was being made in Scotland long before that, however.

Whisky was originally made from barley, but over time, other grains were used as well. Today, you can find whisky made from rye, wheat, and even corn.

Different types of whisky are made using different methods. For example, Scotch whisky must be made in Scotland and must be aged in oak barrels for a minimum of three years. bourbon, on the other hand, is made in the United States and must be made from at least 51% corn.

Whisky is a popular drink all over the world, and it's often enjoyed on its own or in cocktails. Some of the most popular cocktails made with whisky include the Old Fashioned, the Manhattan, and the Whisky Sour.. There are many different types of whisky to choose from, so there's sure to be one that suits your taste. Whether you enjoy it on its own or in a cocktail, whisky is a great choice for any occasion.
