10 Whiskey Cocktail Recipes to try at home

1. Manhattan

Ingredients: 2 oz bourbon whiskey, 1 oz sweet red vermouth, 3 dashes Angostura bitters, maraschino cherry (optional)

Instructions: Combine all ingredients except the cherry in a shaker filled with ice. Shake well and strain into a chilled glass. Garnish with the cherry and serve immediately.

2. Old Fashioned

Ingredients: 2 oz bourbon whiskey, 1 sugar cube, 3 dashes Angostura bitters, club soda (optional), orange peel (optional)

Instructions: Place the sugar cube in a rocks glass and add the bitters to it. Add a splash of water or club soda and muddle the sugar until it is dissolved. Add whiskey and stir. Garnish with the orange peel, if desired.

3. Whiskey Sour

Ingredients: 2 oz bourbon whiskey, 1 oz fresh lemon juice, 1 oz simple syrup, egg white (optional), maraschino cherry (optional)

Instructions: Combine all ingredients except the cherry in a shaker filled with ice. Shake well and strain into a chilled glass. Garnish with the cherry and serve immediately.

Ingredients: 2-3 sprigs fresh mint, 2 tsp sugar, 2 oz bourbon whiskey, club soda (optional)

7. Sazerac

Ingredients: 2 oz rye whiskey, 1 sugar cube, 3 dashes Peychaud’s bitters, absinthe (or Herbsaint), lemon peel (optional)

Instructions: In a rocks glass, muddle the sugar cube with the bitters. Add the whiskey and stir. Rinse a second rocks glass with absinthe or Herbsaint and discard the excess. Strain the whiskey mixture into the second glass and garnish with the lemon peel, if desired.

8. Vieux Carré

Ingredients: 1 oz rye whiskey, 1 oz Cognac, 1 oz sweet vermouth, 1 oz Benedictine, 2 dashes Peychaud’s bitters, 2 dashes Angostura bitters, maraschino cherry (optional)

Instructions: Combine all ingredients except the cherry in a shaker filled with ice. Shake well and strain into a chilled glass. Garnish with the cherry and serve immediately.

9.Rusty Nail

Ingredients: 2 oz Drambuie, 1 oz scotch whisky, lemon peel (optional)

Instructions: Combine the Drambuie and whisky in a rocks glass over ice. Stir well and garnish with the lemon peel, if desired.

10. Godfather

Ingredients: 2 oz amaretto, 2 oz scotch whisky, orange peel (optional)

Instructions: Combine the amaretto and whisky in a rocks glass over ice. Stir well and garnish with the orange peel, if desired.
