Sparkling wines to enjoy on holidays

Sparkling Wines: Holiday Best

Without sparkling wine, a party would be incomplete. Although Champagne is the most popular sparkling wine, there are numerous other types of sparkling wine that will get you in the holiday spirit.

There are three types of sparkling wine: Champagne, Prosecco, and Cava. These sparkling wines are from France, Italy, and Spain, in that order.

Champagne

The most well-known type of sparkling wine is probably champagne.

It is called Champagne because it is made in the French region of Champagne. Champagne is made from Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Meunier grapes. This wine is made using the Champagne method, which means that the carbonation in the bottle comes from a second fermentation.

Champagne is typically dry, creamy, and has a yeasty flavor. It goes well with cheese, oysters, and fried foods. Champagne's dry, crisp finish is my favorite.

Cocktails like mimosas and other spritzers often include champagne.

Prosecco

All Prosecco sparkling wine is produced in Italy. Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia are the two regions that produce the most. Prosecco is the name of the wine's small village.

The grape utilized in Prosecco is the Prosecco grape. However, in 2009, the European Union changed the name of this grape to Glera. It is available in rose and white varieties. The Charmat method is used to make Prosecco, which is made by fermenting the wine in a large tank and adding carbon dioxide before bottling.

Prosecco typically has a light body and fruity flavors. Fruit, desserts, and light appetizers go well with it.

Cava

All Cava sparkling wine is produced by Cava Spain. Cava is made from Macabeo, Parellada, and Xarel-lo grapes.

It can come in rose or white (blanco). About 95% of all Cava is produced in Catalonia, Spain. Numerous significant manufacturers can be traced back hundreds of years.

Cava is made in the Champagne method, which means that a second fermentation in the bottle produces the carbonation.

Cava typically has a yeasty aroma and fruity flavors. It goes well with light pasta dishes, seafood, and poultry. Additionally, I value Cava's dry finish.

Try them all out and have some fun over the holidays!
