Martini is a brand of Italian origin that produces vermouth and other alcoholic beverages. The company started in the 1860s as a bitters producer and has since become one of the most popular brands of alcohol in the world. Martini vermouth is made from a blend of wine, herbs, and spices, and is available in both sweet and dry varieties. The company also produces Martini Rossi, a sweet red liqueur, as well as a range of other spirits and wines.

Martini's home region is Piedmont in northwestern Italy. The company's history can be traced back to the 18th century, when Luigi Rossi began producing bitters in Turin. In 1863, his son Giovanni Martini partnered with businessman Carlo Re Martini to form the Martini & Rossi company. The company's first product was a bitters called "Amaro Abano," which was produced in Padua.

In 1868, Martini & Rossi began producing vermouth in Pessione, and soon became one of the most popular brands of the drink in Italy. The company expanded its operations to France and Spain in the early 1900s, and by the 1920s Martini & Rossi was the largest producer of vermouth in the world.

During the Prohibition era in the United States, Martini & Rossi became one of the few legal suppliers of alcohol to American bars and nightclubs. In 1925, the company opened a plant in New York City to produce Martini vermouth for the American market.

Martini & Rossi merged with Bacardi in 2005, and is now part of the Bacardi Corporation. Martini vermouth is still produced in Pessione, and the company's headquarters are in Rome.
